A great day for a wedding... & a xmas party, firefighter-style

Speaking strictly as a baker, it doesn't always hold true that Sunday is a day of rest, especially if there's a wedding cake to be delivered. But, but... when you know that there's a xmas celebration to look forward to at the end of the day, waking early on the 7th seems less painful. I enjoy doing weddings in the islands because most brides will naturally opt for a tropically themed cake - so easy and quick to put together given the fact that Hawaii is all about tropical flowers! This event in particular was held at an old plantation-style estate which fronted the ocean – stunning location, and complete with a view of the morning surfers out on the water.

Several hours and a huge cooking pot of patele stew later...

My previous employer also works at the fire department and helping him to make the above-mentioned patele stew was a cooking lesson worth waiting for. For all you greedy gourmets of roast pig, I've got some photos. (The crispy skin was to die for!)

It's a man's meal: patele stew, roast pork, smoked meat. Corn, salad, and white rice to fill up the blank spaces.
