Dimmidove | Tell me where

It has been far, far too long since we've attended sagre and feste in Italy and I'm really missing these grand occasions of cool tradition. The current lack of local good eats and enjoyment hasn't stopped me from trying to discover what's out there though, so I'd like to pass on a link that gets to the core of finding these events in the first place: Dimmidove (Tell me where). I came across the website just a few minutes ago and the list of what's happening for the rest of June - Sagra della Porchetta in Matrice (Campobasso), Festa del Toro allo Spiedo in Malo, Vicenza (bull on a spit, yum!), L’assedio di Canelli in Asti - to name a few, makes me clench my teeth in resentment knowing there's not a chance in getting out to these. Atleast I can say that we've been to the latter although it was three years ago. The Seige of Canelli was a fantastic historical reenactment full of color, noise, parades and of course, great food!

Kat - thanks for the encouragement ^-^....as usual, so much to do, so little time, and then the unusual weather. Still would like to make up for lost birthday time spent stuck at home but I doubt that's gonna happen before the end the of the month.

Oh how I miss finding fun Italian festivals and learning about the culture and history through them.

One thing living in Italy taught me was to explore your surroundings and enjoy the local festivals no matter where you live.

The food sounds wonderful! Never heard of a bull on spit- I am sure it would be so flavourful.

About an hour of festival will do me, I'm not a lover of crowds and have been known to go head to head with people who push! Brings out my latent aggressive side!

Rowena, we need you to go to the sagres and festes and report back with mouthwatering photos of food porn and cultural activites. Either that, or delight us with your good cooking, lady! :)

Amberbop - the costumes at these things are really something, but the thought that runs through my head always boils down to this: They must be sweating buckets in those outfits!

Frizzy - I couldn't have said it any better!

Murissa - make that a bull that was selected out of a bunch and fattened up just for the occasion.

Saretta - what?! And the crowds in Rome? Venice? Shopping during xmas time? I've never had a problem with people pushing, but maybe it depends on where you are in Italy.

Bella - I am anticipating the egg and chicken race before the end of the year!
