Cono piccolo, medio o grande?
Small, medium or large cone? I've read so much on how visitors to this country are intent on finding the absolute BEST gelato around, yet if and when they do find it, what then? Will it be a small/piccolo which is 2 flavors? Or do they go all out and get the biggest that money can buy? The gelaterie that we often frequent typically use a plain cone as shown above, and we always select the small 2-flavor size. No clue on how medio or grande compares so this is something that I'll need to find out for the sake of gelato for the month of July.

Gelateria Sottozero is one of our go-to spots on our way to Bergamo because they've always got a new flavor that I just have to try. This time it was anguria (watermelon) and mille sfoglie (puff pastry palmiers).

Watermelon ice-cream is perhaps my favorite, except for stracciatella and bacio!

Twenty's Girl - hey send over some of that heat will you? I need some warmer weather to ripen the tomatoes because high 60's ain't cutting it!
Saretta - I've only had anguria sorbetto before so this was a revelation. I'm not too keen on stracciatella either but the other day I had one that was stracciatella di lamponi (nessun latte affatto!) and it was interesting.
Chiara - they had it written as mille sfoglie so what's the deal? A thousand sheets or a thousand leaves? Or does it even matter when you're talking a thousand?! May as well be totally different and call it millestrati. Ihihih...yeah I'm such a clown.
the gelato places in Japan also have these options, love getting the one with two choices :)
NOOO stop teasing me with all the gelato, or I might just fly my butt over there.. sigh, I'm counting calories so I can look waif like (not possible) for a function coming up in September... but I would seriously deviate if I had gelato right in front of me, in fact I cheated last night, I had a slice of baumkuchen.
Kat - to tell the truth, I've never seen anyone ask for a grande, but they have that option so there must be the occasional gelato geek that has to have more than 2 flavors. I'm going to be gelato geek for a day...maybe today.
elle marie - sorry, but I must finish this self-imposed gelato torture until the end of the month! At first I said gelato OR beer 5 days out of the week but so far the brew selection at the store has been so-so. Me and my bright ideas...
