Well it isn't anything new, that's for sure, and it only makes sense in a country where this cool italian treat was born. A gelato company in Milan has created Fidogelato just for man's best friend. As of the moment Fidogelato comes in one flavor - coconut - and the proprietor says that even humans can eat it too. I took a good look at the ingredients list and it certainly is not an organic concoction, but for an occasional treat or birthday celebration, we may just take the dogs to the nearest vendor so that they can judge for themselves how doggone yummy it is.

I thought sugar was bad for doggies?

Kat - I would think that somebody already thought of that in Japan. You guys are getting edge for anything to do with cakes...I want to try making that green shortcake with tomatoes from Potager!

Saretta - don't just think it, believe it. Sugar IS bad for dogs. Fruit sugar is okay, but dehydrated glucose syrup? Corn dextrose? Hmmmm. I don't think any reputable vet is going to have something positive to say about Fidogelato, but then there are alot of animal food products out there that wouldn't be fit even for humans.

potager's cakes are made of veggies so I guess doggies would be able to eat them too :)

Lucky pups to have quite a treat! I'd throw in some dog-friendly carob cupcakes for a real pup-party. :)

Midge - I've heard of the carob desserts for dogs but still haven't found a convenient source here. And I'm working on a cake recipe using rice flour only (no wheat or soy), with apple juice as a sweetener so no processed sugar either!

Nate - they are spoiled...rotten little munkeys!

Lisa - thanks! When there's nothing inspiring to blog about the next best thing is to point the camera at the kids.

Bella - tell Roxy that we'll save some for her!
