Uno, due, tre at the Flying Truffle

Or better yet, at Tartufo Volante in Erba (Como province). How much cuter can a name get? The gelato here was so good that it made us agree on sharing a third cone all because of one flavor in particular - the organic mint. This was no shade of green that screams food coloring to my eyeballs; this was creamy white from the gelato base and specked with itty bitty pieces of mint leaves. It's one of the flavors in my triple scoop cone to the left (with watermelon and pineapple), but it was inside hidden from view. I have never tasted a mint so pure in flavor which is why it justified another go to be doubly sure. Paired with a chocolate flecked with candied ginger, it was like chocolate chip mint, only the gourmand's version. Add one more to our list of favorite gelaterie in the Lecco/Como area.

I am 100% certain from all your gelato eating, you have become frozen! Here I am having a Lara bar and it is most disgusting thing I have ever eaten, think I'll stick to soy joy as a healthy snack and tortilla chips, but man... you are tempting me to cheat, I've got to keep going because I can almost button my other jeans...determined to get back into my size 6's but I can't seem to get my big bum out of a 9!!!

Kat - I don't think we've ever eaten so much gelato in our life. I keep track of the expense...would you believe 36.5€ last month alone?!!!

Elle - the freezing is counteracted immediately by the hot weather so I assure you that this binging won't last for long. I think... Size 9? Get outta here...you just have curves that's all!

Midge - at first I thought it was enhanced with ginger spice powder, but when I bit into the tiny candied bits....nice surprise.

Sounds delicious!
I really appreciate it when a shop or restaurant use the most freshest of herbs and flavours. I just incorporated fresh mint and basil into a gazpacho last night and it was delicious!

Murissa - seasonal flavors are really the best thing about gelato shops that carry them. I'm looking forward to fall and the candied chestnut gelato...excellent with chocolate.

Saretta - and too bad that I can't travel to southern Italy! I could probably devote another whole month to the frozen stuff.

foodhoe - and here I thought the only really good thing you could do with mint is a mojito. Not!
