When two worlds are about to collide

Black cat on path by Rubber Slippers In Italy
Black cat on path, originally uploaded by Rubber Slippers In Italy on Flickr.

I am not sure about italian superstitions regarding black cats sitting on the side of the road, but the old myth of having bad luck if they cross your path always makes me hesitate for a moment. As to why this one was sitting there is beyond me (at first I thought it was road kill), but the Mister wasn't going for any cat crossing HIS path and chased Blackie into the woods to the left.

Cute! I also see your westie dear enjoying the petting zoo in the last post! Our country fair is coming up soon.

Rowena! One of my favorite furry friends makes an appearance! Mr. B., you show that naughty cat who owns the road! I love it!

Candylei - the westie makes friends and the doxie makes enemies...always!

Bella - should heard the low warning growl...given by Mr B!

Nate - only cats and other dogs set him off. Sheep, goats, cows, rabbits...not worth bothering as the language barrier is far too great. Oh, and the lizard-hunting thing he picked up from the westie, but that's just for practice.

My Nezumi is always friendly to other doggies her size, but anything bigger she wants to pick a fight. And good thing there are no cats in the neighborhood roaming around, she would pick a fight with them but probably get beat up.

Lovely black kitty; I think they may be considered lucky here - like bird poop on your shoulder. That's one I still haven't figured out. Maybe kitty was warming his tum on the road?

Nate - I don't know why Mistah has such attitude but we manage all the same. He likes to "harrass" the neighbor's Labs (they are fenced in) but will back off when I yell at him to stop.

Fern - he probably was, I just wonder why in the middle of nowhere as that stretch of road has no homes.

I'm fairly certain that in the UK it is good luck to have a black cat crossing your path, but then, I'm not a very superstitious person. (And may have got my wires crossed.)

Casalba - a good thing we didn't have to think on the situation too much as Blackie was not in any mood to be crossing Mr B's path!

Kat - isn't it weird how some superstitions have us on an automatic response? Still, better a cat than a snake!
